Depicts a conservative, disciplined american who holds fast to his beliefs that shall never change

I see alot of meaning here with the military coat being a physical piece and himself being almost like a shadow, maybe the character prides himself on his past and feels like he has not much to live for since the days of his youth. or maybe a memory he has of himself is more meaningful than old age life, hence the note? kinda looks like an old school preacher, who has come to position in fear that his glory days are over. great piece, i like the old, rustic door.
